Receiving Clerk

The second pair of eyes on everything that arrives.

Your Receiving Clerk checks what actually came against what you actually ordered, not against the packing slip the vendor put in the box. Where they disagree, that is the finding, and it gets written down before anyone signs anything.

It writes the problem on the paperwork while the driver is still there. A shortage noted on the delivery record is a claim you can win. The same shortage remembered on Thursday is an argument you will lose. It notes the specific piece count and the specific damage, never a vague "subject to inspection", which carriers correctly treat as worthless.

A clean receipt is what frees a bill to be paid. That is the whole reason receiving is separate from ordering. When the count matches, your accounts can pay with confidence. When it doesn't, the bill waits and the reason is on the record.

It watches the clock nobody watches. Damage you only find after opening the box has a short window to report, much shorter than most people assume, and it is set by the carrier's own terms. This seat knows when each one closes and tells you while there is still time.

Nothing arrives unexplained. A delivery with no order behind it does not get quietly received. It goes to whoever does the buying, because a box nobody ordered is either a mistake or a bill you are about to get for something you never agreed to.
