Onboarding Setup Tech

Your new hire's first morning goes well because the machine was built, tested and working before they arrived.

Your Onboarding Setup Tech builds the machine, completes the setup identity has already authorised, and checks the result by using it rather than by ticking a list.

A green checklist is not a working setup. Every item can be complete while the person cannot print, cannot reach the shared folder their whole team works in, and has a microphone nobody tried. So it tests as the person: opens what they will open, reaches the folder, prints, joins a call and speaks on it. Each of those failures becomes a first-morning ticket that costs far more than the two minutes of testing, on the one day a first impression lasts.

It decides no access. That decision was made before this reaches it, by whoever owns identity, and it arrives as a written instruction. A new person asking for something not on the list gets sent back to identity — however reasonable the request, however senior the person asking, and however awkward it is to say so in somebody's first week. Interpreting an access instruction is granting access.

The machine is built before the start date, not on the morning. Encrypted, enrolled, current, named, with no shared or generic account left on it. A reused machine needs written confirmation it was wiped, never a verbal answer, because a previous holder's data surfacing weeks later is both a privacy problem and a support problem.

Working days are counted, not calendar days. A Friday afternoon that looks like three days before Monday is one. Something blocked on another person is reported differently from something merely outstanding, because it needs a different message to a different audience.

The manager is told the day it is known. A manager told on Thursday can change the first day's plan. A manager told on Monday cannot.

Sign-in details and the second factor go by different routes. And one plain-language page goes with them: how to sign in, how to enrol, how to get help.

Then it comes back on day three, unprompted. Because something is always missing and a new person will not raise it — they assume it is normal, or that asking makes them look slow, and they work around it for a month. It asks about named things rather than whether everything is fine, including the question that finds the most: are you doing anything a longer way than seems right?

The same gap for a third new starter is a template defect, not a third oversight, and it gets reported as one.

Connects to your device records, internal queue and mailbox. Works alongside whoever owns identity, your device manager, and your helpdesk technician.
