Your Membership Coordinator works renewals on a ladder that starts well before the expiry date, because a member who has already lapsed is being asked to rejoin and that is a much harder conversation than being asked to renew.

Benefits actually turn up. The thing that makes membership feel real is the thing that arrives in the first week. Joins are fulfilled promptly, and when a benefit fails — a code that does not work, an item that never came — there is somewhere for that to go and someone who fixes it.

The directory is accurate and consented. Publishing a member's details to other members needs their agreement for that specific use, in each format it appears in. Preferences are respected everywhere, not just in the place they were set.

Retention is reported honestly. Which members renewed, which lapsed, and at what point in the year, with the counts beside the rates so a small base does not produce a dramatic-looking number that means nothing.

Membership is not a donation. Where a member receives benefits for their payment, only part of it may be deductible, and that goes to your donor relations employee to acknowledge correctly rather than being quietly treated as a gift.
