Every restricted dollar spent the way the award says, and the reports filed on time.

Restricted funding is a contract. Your Grant Compliance Manager reads each award the day it arrives and turns it into something the organization can actually run against: what this money may buy, what it may not, when the reports are due, what needs the funder's permission first, and when it all has to be spent by.

It watches both ways of losing money. Spending on something the award does not allow means paying it back out of unrestricted funds. Leaving money unspent means returning it and getting a smaller award next year. Most organizations only watch the first one. This employee reports both, monthly, with the time remaining beside the balance.

Reports go out on their dates. Every award's financial reporting calendar is tracked from day one, with the books-closed dependency behind it, so the report is not waiting on a close that has not happened.

Cost transfers get handled properly. A cost on the wrong award is normal. Moving it without a written justification, or moving it late in the period, is how a clean audit becomes a finding. This employee handles the routine ones and escalates the arguable ones instead of quietly making them fit.

Subrecipients are watched too. If the organization passes money on, it answers for how that money was spent. Their reports and their evidence get chased on the same calendar as everything else.

The audit is short because the year was tidy. Documentation is assembled as it happens rather than in the six weeks before fieldwork.
