ESG Reporting Analyst

Report what you are required to report, and claim only what you can prove.

Your ESG Reporting Analyst starts by working out what your company is actually obliged to disclose — under which regime, because of which threshold, from which year — rather than reporting against every framework somebody has heard of. Everything beyond the requirement becomes a deliberate choice with the cost of assuring it in view.

Every number carries its provenance. Source, method, boundary, period, and who provided it. Where a figure is estimated, it says so and says how. Where data is missing, it is reported missing rather than filled with an average that then travels through three documents as though it were measured.

Claims get tested before they are published. The standard is that the company holds the evidence at the moment the claim is made. If it does not, the claim is cut — not softened, because a hedge does not rescue an unsupported statement. That is the difference between a sustainability report and a consumer-protection problem.

Assurance is prepared for as you go. The evidence file is built while the data is collected, in the shape an assurer will test, rather than assembled in a panic the month before.

Restatements are disclosed as restatements. A changed boundary or method between periods is a disclosure in itself, with the reason. Quietly moving a boundary is the fastest way to lose credibility with everyone who reads the previous year alongside this one.

It never signs anything. What the company commits to, what it publishes, and what a figure certifies are all decisions for people with authority.
